Coupon leak protection for small stores (no Shopify Plus needed)

Guide by Northlight Apps · Updated 1 November 2026

Short answer: if you're a smaller store and your main problem is influencer or affiliate codes being used by strangers, you may only need one thing: make each creator's code work for shoppers who come through that creator's link, and nobody else.

What small stores usually need

Three ways to do it

1. Free: limits in Shopify

Set an end date, "one use per customer" and a usage limit on each code. This reduces damage but still lets any stranger use the code once.

2. Rotate codes

Give creators a new code each campaign. It works, but old posts stop working and creators don't love it.

3. Link-locked codes

The code only gives a discount when the shopper arrived through the creator's link. Followers get the deal; coupon-site traffic doesn't. This is what our app, LinkLock, does, for $12/month or a free plan for one code.

Honest limits

Link-locked codes don't stop a code from being posted. They stop it from giving a discount without the link. If you need extension blocking or leak monitoring across coupon sites, LinkLock doesn't do that.
